Sunrise Service

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments

For Easter nothing huge went on in my world. But it wasn't just a typical weekend. Not only was it Easter weekend but the opportunity to listen to General Conference made it all the sweeter. There was so much to take in and learn. On Easter Sunday at the Red Rocks Amphitheater they hold Sunrise Service. Rachel and I decided to get up just a few short hours after hitting the pillow; at 4:00!! We had fun enjoying the calm of the morning and taking part. We skipped out before the sermon but overall it was beautiful and wonderful to realize that so many people can come together to learn of Jesus Christ and feel of his love. Which is just what we continued to do as we listened to General Conference.

Hope you all had just as wonderful an Easter as I did; minus the Chinese Easter dinner! ;)

7 things about me

I love the sun! And you can still get tan even when you wear sunblock. Whoever taught me it didn't - you deserve to burn!

I don't like to drive. Because of my ankle problems it would hurt to drive for more than 15 minutes. Hopefully that will change here soon.

I LOVE watching movies in 3-D. It's always worth the extra dough. PROMISE!

I hang out with mum every day! She is my best friend.

I LOVE basketball!

I love to bake, however most the time it always has something in it that the one boy I would gift it to wouldn't eat. So he just goes without. More for me!

I am going to Roswell, New Mexico in a few months. Any thoughts on this?

Enjoy your Monday! I'm off to the dr...for fun!

Best field trip YET!!

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
It's true, I'd rather be laying out - poolside, sipping soda and listening to some Akon or along those same lines. But seeing as duh it's frigid cold out that's out of the question. I can't wait to have this cast off and have it be summer! Best thing to look forward to...well I lie. Walking is the best thing I'm looking forward to. Oh but back to the point. Since I can't have that I'll take the next best thing. An outing! Not just an outing but a sleepover! I left the house in my pj's and have a new scenery to take in at my friends house! It's so great to be somewhere other than my house. And I LOVE it!

Off to watch another chick flick and down some Coke! No wallowing here tonight! I'm not messing around, gotta take full advantage of being out.

Grab a coke and take a sit, because I just did

Posted by StephieMae 1 sweet comments
I went to 3 quilt stores in 3 days. Do you know what that means?! It means I got out of the house! I of course went to the Dr but that isn't an adventure that is doom! So of course I buried myself in my bed and didn't want to come out and my mum insisted I go for a drive. I did and you know what? I had fun! We even went to Costco. Umm not as fun as last time...but I still got to drive around and eat samples! So hello of course it was amazing! Every time we manage to go out I actually never get out of the car. {with the exception of Costco well because I would do anything to drive the lil cart around.} Each day I get in the car with my ice cold coke with lime and just enjoy the view. Every time I think, "Why is it I didn't bring a book/magazine/suduko?" Instead I sit for 20-30 minutes while mum shops around. Yet I am completely content with doing just that. Until one doesn't have it you forget the simple things you take for granted.

It just reminded me of a field trip I took I'd guess in the 2nd grade. We walked to Albertson's. Doesn't that sound incredible? Well at that time it was, and that is comparable to how I feel when I get to go out. It's just nice to go somewhere new. And we even got cookies from the bakery on that field trip. Umm simple and fun! That's how these adventures are for me today. Simple yet fun! So do something today that is just that! Unless you are doomed to a hectic schedule and than I don't pity you because I've been there and done that. And don't see myself going back to that. Instead these days I watch tv like it's my job. Should I be concerned? NAH it's normal, right?

Pretty in pink!

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
So I did NOT want to get up today! It has been such a long week and I did so much yesterday that I just wanted to stay in bed. However if there was one thing I'd be willing to get up for it would be for a new cast! So off to the doctors - and the whole way there I was explaining to my mum that I was so excited and I was getting scared to have that stinky walking boot and pretty much wanting her to agree with me that I know what's best...umm truth be told - I don't!
                  {Not the point though.}
So I arrive to the docs and we're chattin it up and discussing what's next in the process and than he drops the news that I didn't want to hear...dun dun dun. "Ready for the boot?" UMM NO! I wanted to escape and threw a bit of a tantrum. Well it was worth it because after discussing the pros and cons of going into the boot he finally said, "Okay, what color do you want?" I was elated!  So now I have a pretty pink cast! So much better than a dumb boot that's meant for walking that I wouldn't even be allowed to walk in. So of course the right decision was made. And now I want to eat a donut! If only I had one...oh brother!
{In the mean time...I'll go party with the Barbies! Which by the way have pink casts as well!}

An end to a long day...

I absolutely LOVE hot chocolate...especially this kind!
I ventured out today for more than just the typical dr's appt...I am so grateful I survived. I'm sure it was a combination of company and my hearts desire but either way I enjoyed church SO much! I've missed it. So after an exhausting but exciting day I'm feeling calm and relaxed and sippin on the aforementioned.

you can learn how to be you in time

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
So I took a three week trip to Utah to visit family. In that time I kind of lost track of time-who am I kidding I never am able to keep on top of my busy schedule. Well I just settled in after being home a day and pulled out my calendar. You guys it is devastating...I am hanging my head because reality has hit me. I have three appts this week and let's not even think about what next week will bring. But all is well because in meeting with my PT yesterday he gave me great relief in knowing that I'm coming along great in recovery. He helps me see the things that I don't. He has worked with me for six months now on and off and He knows my strengths and weaknesses better than I do at times. It is so wonderful to have those experiences in our lives, isn't it? What's that saying? REMEMBER THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE FOR ONE DAY YOU MAY LOOK BACK AND REALIZE THEY WERE THE BIG THINGS. Well that is how this whole surgery recovery process has been for me. There are so many things that I have dealt with the majority of my growing up years that put me in this place I am in now. And PT helps me recognize what a significant role they have had on who I am. Those little things are now big ah ha moments and it is wonderful being able to draw from those experiences and become stronger.

China town?!?

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
Okay so it wasn't really in 'china town' but it was in a way. If Colorado had a China town I would mark this area to be just that. {duh I know I contradict myself} anyways China town was amazing. We went to the Chinese grocery store which is an experience everyone should have at least once. We went to the Chinese furniture store and we even made an appearance at Dim Sum! YUMMY! Anyways I am back from my lil out of Colorado but in Colorado experience. It lasted just a few hours and I loved every minute of it. In the furniture store there was bamboo and Buddhas everywhere and oh the tea pots~I wanted to buy every single one of them!! So beautiful!! The dish ware is so beautiful and well I could go on and on but really I just wanted to say I took a mini 4 hour vacation and it was amazing! Love you all!

UTAH - to love - to have - to hate -

Posted by StephieMae 1 sweet comments
So I made a trip to Utah.

I know - gosh we all know; that I have a love hate relationship with Utah. But this time 'round it was wonderful.

It wasn't the typical trip I take out there and it's been some time since really getting out of the house so it was pure bliss!

Let's see if I can sum pieces of it up for you all :)

The drive - one word, AMAZING! I love road trips!

The company - equally brilliant as the drive.

The colors! Oh the colors!! I LOVE fall!! The crunch of the leaves and the spectacular use of colors God graces us with is ridiculously spectacular!

BYU homecoming game - umm a devastation and let down for many :( TCU had some incredible plays though! Very impressive that I couldn't help but be happy inside!

University towns - nothing like 'em! There's such a different way of life when you step foot on one. And I simply love it. What don't I love, yeesh?

So my simple trip to a wonderful state with great company. That is JOY!

StoryTime

Posted by StephieMae 2 sweet comments
Okay so this was way too funny and it was a must share story! I couldn't pass up the opportunity to post it. It is hilarious and I think you may just think so too!

I hope I don't butcher it...

First off let me just give you lil background. Last night my cousin Larry flew in for the evening to do a fireside for the Columbine Stake. I always have loved listening to him speak. Amazing and he's even being highlighted at for the BYU homecoming this year. He is amazing and it is what it is. Pure brilliance to have Him around. He's a good story teller. A classic Mercer quality.

So we got to talking about stuff in the news and about some silly law suit about a polynesian couple who went into a buffet for their all you can eat prime rib offer.

I tried to find the article but to no avail...I came up empty handed. Either way I guess after the husbands 13th plate of meat the manager/owner/lameoid said that was enough and they had to leave.

Umm - como que leave?? You left that wide open for a lawsuit because duh-it's all you can eat! Or can you not read?? Either way not sure what ended up happening...I suppose they settled and gave the couple some money and I'm sure loads of free food.

But it led up to the funnier story of the eveining. Lar and a friend had met up at what he called the Golden Apple (??) a buffet in the greater Provo area back in the day. My parents were the only other ones that had recollection of the place.

Anyways He and his friend has gone for I guess I would call it a late lunch. While there Larry observed this family SLEEPING!! Ha ha so he asks His friend 'who are they?' and with a reply I assume was kind of like duh it's a no brainer...'oh well that's so and so'

Oh right so and so - anyways on Fridays this family would go and pay the lunch price then take a nap. Sleep on through the afternoon than stay for dinner. I mean it is a buffet. It is a one time cover charge. The kids would sleep on the floor, booth etc and they would eat. HA HA HA only in Utah right???

I hope you guys have a fantastic weekend filled with loads of college football!! Oh I love this time of year! There will be some good games and I look forward to them all!

So Contagious

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
Ever heard of Acceptance? They are based out of Seattle. I happened upon them recently and they are growing on me day by day. Their lyrics call to me. I love them! One song in particular is So Contagious. It is kind of fitting at the moment of things that are taking place in my life. So if I intrigued you perhaps check 'em out. I feel like my life has at times been a lil crazy to say the least and that things are spiraling out of control. Funny thing is I always have control over my sight and how I view things. SO I guess I just lost focus for a time. I found this picture a while back I loved the way it made me feel. How does it make you feel?
It brings me to the next thing I want to share...I made a trip to the Denver Art Museum!! Something I've been wanting to do since moving here and it's never happened. They extended an exhibit I really wanted to see so I made the trip! Best decision ever peeps! I love art and I love the feelings that it can evoke and the emotions that come through. Don't you?

Let's go for a walk...

Posted by StephieMae 2 sweet comments
So I had the opportunity to go out east two summers ago; spending a good chunk of time residing in Cape May, NJ. It was the best first exposure to the east coast and I couldn't have asked for more.
I stayed in this beautiful Italianate cottage known as the pink cottage which was built in 1891 and it was one door down from Beach Ave. Located in the historic district of Cape May. Just a two minute walk from the beach and get this right outside our back porch was a path that led you straight to the boardwalk. Where there were vendors everywhere with funnel cakes, corn dogs, lemonade, custard and just loads of yummy deliciousness!
Every night I would walk along the shoreline and find my way down to the lighthouse. Just a short jaunt down the beach. All was calm and the ocean spray would be warm with the sand under your feet and the dewiness from the humidity. Life stood still for a short moment; it's as if all had stopped to just take a breath and were caught in this day dream.
I would spend my days walking Washington Street and going to all the different shops. They sold any and everything. It was so whimsical and magical. I enjoyed people watching and getting to know the store owners who were a fountain of never ending stories of what Cape May means to them. I loved going and dining alone at all the different restaurants. Where I experienced warm 'feel good' home cooking, I loved it all! The names alone were enticing; Mad Batter and Tea by the Sea were some of my faves.
The architecture alone was breathtaking and had small town feel written all over them. I spent so much time just walking the streets admiring the homes. Thinking about the hands that had built them and created masterpieces of charm. There is so much history and legend behind most every single house. Some of my favorites were the sister homes. Seven homes for seven beloved daughters of one of the wealthiest Cape May builders. The homes are to die for and stunning and all identical.
I took naps everyday and swam in the warm ocean and built sand castles. I didn't have a care in the world and there was no schedule to keep up with. Everything was at my own leisure. I was thinking about all this today because sometimes I think we need these moments in life. Where there is no agenda or life to keep up with but rather just a life to embrace. I can't wait until I have the chance to return and fall in love all over again! But until then just enjoy these pics! None of which are mine because although I had my camera I took not one photo while there. I was so involved in just taking it all in and storing memories within*

So did I tell you?!

What is your damage, Heather?

If you were happy every day of your life you wouldn't be a human being. You'd be a game show host. ~Veronica Sawyer, Heathers
So I've been thinkin a bit about what happiness is. It can be so many things and it can come in many ways, shapes and forms. At any given day or time in our lives. So why do we tend to focus on things that only bring us down? Okay so maybe you don't but on occasion I know I am guilty of it.

I can't believe we are already just about into May; where has the year gone? I feel like this has been the year of learning. I have had to figure out what I'm doing in life; this year anyways ha. But no for realz I haven't really been working for about two months. I injured my foot and that set me up for where I am today. IF not for a choice I made back in November I wouldn't be the strongest I've felt in a long time. With trials come tests and I know I was fo sho crammin for these tests. But instead of telling you of all the decisions I could have made but didn't I'll tell you rather of just the good things I've had happen in the last while.

You guys I got to meet my niece! Does it make me a horrible auntie if it took me two years? I had such a great time with her and LOVE how children can be so accepting and forgiving and loving! They don't judge. It's a spectacular thing we can and should learn from. Now to meet my other niece and nephew that were born this last winter.
I got to do some amazing traveling and see spectacular things God made as well as man made that marvels. I got to do it with peeps I love to be around that buoyed me up and make me want to be better; in word and deed. I've felt their love in more ways then one. As well as God's love when I look around see all the beauty He has created for us to enjoy.

I have made decisions that have set me up to work here in Colorado which is what I wanted. I have prepared for other options which enabled it to be a smooth transition. Did I mention I got a job and I start in less than a week. I just need to finish packing and I'm on my way! HALLA!

I've had contact with dear friends that have impacted my life for the better. They come at times when you feel like the world is closing in on you. I'm able to reconnect and feel of their love and the love of a Heavenly Father who proves to me again and again that he does hear and answer prayers.
Most importantly the list goes on and on and that there peeps is the beauty of life!

Has anyone seen the Heathers? It is similar to that of any other movie that has gossip and selfishness and pride found in a lil' clique of friends. But this one goes a lil' too far. Where one individual sometimes is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to gain back something they feel was lost. Sometimes individuals have resent or bitterness or hurt anger etc and from there choices are made. If you are wondering where this is spouting from don't worry about it. I had something said directed towards me that hurt. Well and who hasn't? Duh we're human and things can hurt. But when people say or do things that you don't always appreciate you get to make the same decision they did. And that's just what it is - a choice!! We get to choose how we respond just as much as they got to choose what to say. So I am happy and choose to be happy! If things don't always go as planned it's easy to not want to keep that end goal in mind but I promise you if you will do your part things will happen. Marvelous thing!! (but not like in the Heathers...if you know what I mean)

There went the sun!

I don't particularly love to fly. It used to be that it scared me but I think I've conquered that fear. It's all the other peeps that are the problem. But rather than talk about the things I like or dislike in the airports I'll just leave it at that. I don't want to say something about someone that made me laugh when I don't know their story. Anyways there was one funny thing I'll share with you about my flight in last night. So because of a storm over the Rockies it was pretty bumpy as we descended. When we finally did touch down it was a rough one to say the least. Anyways this way funny steward or flight attendant or whatev was too entertaining from the moment I stepped on that plane several hours earlier. He came on over the speakers and said the following;
"Our apologies for that landing, it wasn't the pilots fault and it sure as heck ain't my fault. Alls you need to know is it was the asphalts." I mean this guys was too genius and it made the flight all the better.
I sure did love the visit to sunny Roseville! Now back in the mile high city with snow through the weekend.

Feliz viernes santo!

Today and every day forward will be a holiday. Every day should be a holiday of great gooey goodness! I can picture it now; duh okay so I think in my own lil world I'm already livin it!

How I wish you could expereince California right along with me. Just tonight the scent of spring is lucious...totally to die for peeps. I don't believe words could do the evening justice. So i'll just leave it at that. Wish you all were here to enjoy the scentsational night with me.

Moving on to other topics HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY! (although when you read this it will be Easter Eve) For those who celebrated Good Friday I hope you found it enjoyable and to your satisfaction. Now I believe it was a good friday for myself. Good as any other - but way BETTER!
I fo sho appreciated it for the holiday it is and it prepped me for Easter but it was fitting to just know I had a good friday.

Yay for Easter!! So Easter is such a special time for me. It has to be one of my top faves; definately in my top three! I have so much love for my savior at this time of year. When I was in young women's Sister LillyAnne put together special envelopes for each of us and it was to help us learn of and grow in love and appreciation for our savior, Jesus Christ. She titled it something along the lines of 21 days of coming closer to Christ; to that extent anyways. I read this over and over year after year and have come to have a greater compassion of the Atonement and all it blesses me with in my individual life. I have had many wonderful experiences that remind me of this and more so in the month of April. So peeps just a shout out to wish you all a wonderful Easter! I hope it brings you as much love and joy as it does me.

What the ramblings?!

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
So I have so many things to talk about that would make perfectly lovely posts. Yet none of them are really any that strike my fancy at the moment. I'm lame and I have realized it, come to terms, and now I'm moving on. So I guess one thing I know I'm overly joyed about and I'm very content with sharing is the topic of Twilight! (the movie) I still am a fence sitter in coversation but as soon as I get it in front of me i'm sucked in. I think I spoiled it by having seen it so many times; by doing so I now can't decide if I love it or just like it. Duh com'n I can't lie-I LOVE it. So peeps if you haven't seen it get out from under the shell and embrace it. Even if you dislike it just knowing you saw it won't hurt your ego; at least if I were to have a say.

I am in California for those of you that don't know; visiting some family. Now it's been well a good 18 months since I have been exposed to humidity. The last time being mid summer on the coast of Cape May. I embraced the humidity while there because I was living on the beach day in and day out. Although California is a good place to be if you were achin for a visit to the beach-this is not the case. So peeps I am embracin the curls head on and maybe by the time I return to Colorado I will be in love wit them. Let's just say my hair is a fan of humidity but def not a friend to me if I make an attempt to style the norm. So pack up the round brush and straightners cause they ain't seein the light of day for a bit.

now where'd I put that mousse?

Welcome in the Sunshine!!

Posted by StephieMae 1 sweet comments
So first off down with daylight savings! Actually I'm excited to get back to having more daylight! I have missed it and it's about time it comes back. Yay for SUNSHINE! But I still think it's a lame concept. But now on to more important ramblings.

I love lil mini road trips. They are always so full of random mishaps and fun surprises. This one was just a short day trip and we stayed overnight. Everything about it was wonderful and Rachel and I even stayed out of trouble! We rock :) We made an appearance at the dance and saw loads of peeps from our ward. Way to represent Crowfeet! Woot woot!

But here's to sleepovers that end up being better than expected and to great friends that are always willing to welcome us into their homes. (esp when I was just there earlier in the week) But we attended some wonderful meetings on Sunday and heard great speakers and beautiful musical numbers; they even threw us one at the fireside that evening! All in all a great end to a fun weekend.

So seeing as I spent the majority of my day with my mum we ended up at home watching HAIRSPRAY! Now I adore this movie. I got to see it in Boston with my sweet lil' 12 year old friend Livi. It was so fun to have a girl's night out with her and since then I have just loved everything about it! So to those that have yet to watch it seriously peeps you are missin out. Everything about it is so cheesy and I think that's what makes it so great.
p.s. who else totally loved Queen Latifah's blonde hair?! I love it!

The Proof of this Joy in Me!
