Out OF Control!

Well at least I know my sleep schedule will be overcome by my drug use
after my surgery. I woke up at 3 this morning and I'm in desperate
need of sleep! My surgery can't come soon enough! And I miss my
sisters :( They all need to come back!

Not a creature was stirring...

Shh...do you hear that??

Nothing, eh?

It's because all is quiet in the Anderson casa this evening. Sad that everyone is gone but my ankle is pretty happy because I'm back to my routine. Embarrassing that my routine consists of sitting around most days but it's comfortable to have it silent and calm.

My family came to town for a wedding...the nieces and nephews were here and it was bliss! PURE bliss! I loved it because seriously - no contest - kids can always make you smile and feel loved. Ingenious I tell you - there is something to be learned from their abilities. It is fun to be able to play and converse with them. They teach me so much and I love it!

but alas a side dish of misery of course has to be served up with my plate of happiness...I'm sick :( I'm drugged and feelin pretty good about it though...night my lovlies*

There was one year in my life that I had an experience I'll never forget. I don't remember the silly details just the feelings I had that day.

I always tell myself I must've been in first grade...my visual memory tells me so and for that it must be so. I had a wonderful teacher with whom I loved and I enjoyed my schoolmates. I also loved being able to attend school with two of my older siblings. We lived just a few miles from our elementary school and we'd ride the bus to school with all the neighborhood kids.

Onto the event and the moment I'll keep with me for always.

My brother walked home from school one day with one of His friends. I heard about it and told my mother I wanted to walk to school. I am pretty sure it was a lost fight on my part. My mother telling me that one of these days my brother could possibly accompany me on the walk. I'm sure I dragged my feet to bed that evening. However the next morning I told my mother I would walk to the bus stop up the street to catch the bus - not sure if that is accurate but it is how I remember it. I did in fact walk to that bus stop but instead  of stopping and waiting with the other kids I continued on my way. I walked the route of the school bus. For me that is the only way I knew and I trusted it. However after a while I began to get tired and scared. I was beginning to think that walking to school had not been as wonderful as my brother had talked it up to be. I was approaching a turn off from the busy street where there was a house of an older couple I knew and loved. I just knew she would be home and she'd take me in and make me feel safe. I approached their front door and nobody answered. It was then that I began to cry. For I knew there was still a way to go until I got to school and I didn't have the ability to continue. My tired body was emotionally and physically exhausted. I prayed that somebody would find me and make it better. I didn't want to be alone and realized my mother was right; I was too young to walk to school without someone older. That knowledge made it all that much worse, and I felt horrible for being dishonest as well. My stomach was in knots and just when I felt as if nobody would ever find me a saw a school bus. Its driver approaching me asking me what my name was and if I was alright.

The bus drivers on other routes had been notified of the fact that I hadn't made it to school that morning. It is an experience I've always wanted to forget. I felt such relief when that driver found me and took me to school. But all the kids in my class had been questioned about my whereabouts and I felt foolish walking into the classroom that day.

I don't remember really ever talking about it much with my parents after that. But eventually I learned that the route my brother walked to get to school was not the one I had taken. On that day it was a shorter way and one that if I had been patient I would have been able to enjoy all that much more.

Isn't that how it is in our lives though? I got selfish and only saw the end in mind and that I wanted it then and now. I didn't want to wait and depend on someone else. So I did it myself and had to experience something I otherwise wouldn't have had to. I took my way instead of being patient. I also know that my Heavenly Father heard my simple prayer that day of forgiveness and asking for help. It is the same with anything else we go through in this life. Our prayers are heard and He will never abandon us. He knows the end from the beginning and we need to trust that. I know that at times it is hard to remember the simple things we know. But that experience is one that will forever be with me. It is truth that at times what we want isn't always how it should be, however we still have the opportunity to choose. I know that my Heavenly Father will be there always, even at the moments of darkness and shame. For a 6 year old that is all I felt that day, yet when I turned to Him, He provided a way! I love this gospel and I love the power of prayer. May we all take advantage of it! Surely Heaven is with us if we but give heed!

I figured I'd begin with a year that celebrates a life. The birth of my baby sissy - Cassandra. She is AMAZING even though we really share no commanalities except our blood. That's why it was such a good year. She was a magnificent joy in my life, and still is!

She is engaged and soon to be hitched here in the next few months. She is so crazy in love that it makes me want to barf but regardless I am happy for her.

She may not remember this but well obviously she was a baby so she wouldn't but I was so excited with the idea of having a baby around - that is until day she was born.

I woke up and went into my parents bedroom and they weren't there. I thought they had left me and weren't ever going to return. I still remember that feeling, but they ended up keeping her and coming home and it has since worked out in the end.

When my dad would go on business trips my mum would allow us to sleep in bed with her. The best thing ever! But since Cassie was the baby she got to sleep in the middle. She got to sleep next to mom! And she would push me out of the bed, she's too young to remember this I'm sure. But it sure did stick with me. One time she pushed me out while I was sleeping and I feel onto the floor and it hurt! Lame waterbed! I haven't liked waterbeds since. I wonder why??

What is your damage, Heather?

If you were happy every day of your life you wouldn't be a human being. You'd be a game show host. ~Veronica Sawyer, Heathers
So I've been thinkin a bit about what happiness is. It can be so many things and it can come in many ways, shapes and forms. At any given day or time in our lives. So why do we tend to focus on things that only bring us down? Okay so maybe you don't but on occasion I know I am guilty of it.

I can't believe we are already just about into May; where has the year gone? I feel like this has been the year of learning. I have had to figure out what I'm doing in life; this year anyways ha. But no for realz I haven't really been working for about two months. I injured my foot and that set me up for where I am today. IF not for a choice I made back in November I wouldn't be the strongest I've felt in a long time. With trials come tests and I know I was fo sho crammin for these tests. But instead of telling you of all the decisions I could have made but didn't I'll tell you rather of just the good things I've had happen in the last while.

You guys I got to meet my niece! Does it make me a horrible auntie if it took me two years? I had such a great time with her and LOVE how children can be so accepting and forgiving and loving! They don't judge. It's a spectacular thing we can and should learn from. Now to meet my other niece and nephew that were born this last winter.
I got to do some amazing traveling and see spectacular things God made as well as man made that marvels. I got to do it with peeps I love to be around that buoyed me up and make me want to be better; in word and deed. I've felt their love in more ways then one. As well as God's love when I look around see all the beauty He has created for us to enjoy.

I have made decisions that have set me up to work here in Colorado which is what I wanted. I have prepared for other options which enabled it to be a smooth transition. Did I mention I got a job and I start in less than a week. I just need to finish packing and I'm on my way! HALLA!

I've had contact with dear friends that have impacted my life for the better. They come at times when you feel like the world is closing in on you. I'm able to reconnect and feel of their love and the love of a Heavenly Father who proves to me again and again that he does hear and answer prayers.
Most importantly the list goes on and on and that there peeps is the beauty of life!

Has anyone seen the Heathers? It is similar to that of any other movie that has gossip and selfishness and pride found in a lil' clique of friends. But this one goes a lil' too far. Where one individual sometimes is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to gain back something they feel was lost. Sometimes individuals have resent or bitterness or hurt anger etc and from there choices are made. If you are wondering where this is spouting from don't worry about it. I had something said directed towards me that hurt. Well and who hasn't? Duh we're human and things can hurt. But when people say or do things that you don't always appreciate you get to make the same decision they did. And that's just what it is - a choice!! We get to choose how we respond just as much as they got to choose what to say. So I am happy and choose to be happy! If things don't always go as planned it's easy to not want to keep that end goal in mind but I promise you if you will do your part things will happen. Marvelous thing!! (but not like in the Heathers...if you know what I mean)

One bottle pop* Two bottle pop* Three*

So in my family we have a tradition that I LOVE! Every year come Christmas time we make homemade root beer. Now when I've talked to friends about this they think extract and dry ice. And for the longest time I hadn't the slightest clue as to what kind of root beer that could make. Eventually I was introduced to it and it just isn't as good as the family recipe. It involves a bit of work and time but man it's worth it. It is the most delectable tasting beverage. So GOOD! It is a family tradition passed on from my dad's side so all my me and my cousins were raised on this once a year treat. Those that marry into the family warm up to it but I don't think most of them can bare to tolerate it. Anyways there are many stories and memories of finding bottles months after their birth. They have had time to ferment because this, like I stated is the good stuff. Meaning it is made with none other than brewers yeast, extract, and sugar. So delish peeps. The reasoning for this post is just humor. I have an uncle who recently found in the lovely month of March some stashed in his basement; and if I recall correctly a few had exploded. So he proceeded to bring them to the kitchen to open them and rid of the contents. Well needless to say things didn't go the way hoped for. He managed to get the first one open and it went all into the sink but upon the opening of the second bottle it popped and exploded. It went everywhere and he seemed to be wearin a lot it. Ick! So they decided to take the rest out back and pop 'em open one by one. And there were casualties. So lesson learned...never let it go to waste. Even if the batch is a lil' yeasty. It'll only make you stronger inside and out! I can't help but bust up laughin and if it doesn't even crack a smile then I guess it really is a family thing. Enjoy!
P.S. Thanks are due to a one Uncle Rotney who so lovingly adorned us with documentation of the said events...and adorned yourself as well! Love ya!

Feliz viernes santo!

Today and every day forward will be a holiday. Every day should be a holiday of great gooey goodness! I can picture it now; duh okay so I think in my own lil world I'm already livin it!

How I wish you could expereince California right along with me. Just tonight the scent of spring is lucious...totally to die for peeps. I don't believe words could do the evening justice. So i'll just leave it at that. Wish you all were here to enjoy the scentsational night with me.

Moving on to other topics HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY! (although when you read this it will be Easter Eve) For those who celebrated Good Friday I hope you found it enjoyable and to your satisfaction. Now I believe it was a good friday for myself. Good as any other - but way BETTER!
I fo sho appreciated it for the holiday it is and it prepped me for Easter but it was fitting to just know I had a good friday.

Yay for Easter!! So Easter is such a special time for me. It has to be one of my top faves; definately in my top three! I have so much love for my savior at this time of year. When I was in young women's Sister LillyAnne put together special envelopes for each of us and it was to help us learn of and grow in love and appreciation for our savior, Jesus Christ. She titled it something along the lines of 21 days of coming closer to Christ; to that extent anyways. I read this over and over year after year and have come to have a greater compassion of the Atonement and all it blesses me with in my individual life. I have had many wonderful experiences that remind me of this and more so in the month of April. So peeps just a shout out to wish you all a wonderful Easter! I hope it brings you as much love and joy as it does me.

What the ramblings?!

So I have so many things to talk about that would make perfectly lovely posts. Yet none of them are really any that strike my fancy at the moment. I'm lame and I have realized it, come to terms, and now I'm moving on. So I guess one thing I know I'm overly joyed about and I'm very content with sharing is the topic of Twilight! (the movie) I still am a fence sitter in coversation but as soon as I get it in front of me i'm sucked in. I think I spoiled it by having seen it so many times; by doing so I now can't decide if I love it or just like it. Duh com'n I can't lie-I LOVE it. So peeps if you haven't seen it get out from under the shell and embrace it. Even if you dislike it just knowing you saw it won't hurt your ego; at least if I were to have a say.

I am in California for those of you that don't know; visiting some family. Now it's been well a good 18 months since I have been exposed to humidity. The last time being mid summer on the coast of Cape May. I embraced the humidity while there because I was living on the beach day in and day out. Although California is a good place to be if you were achin for a visit to the beach-this is not the case. So peeps I am embracin the curls head on and maybe by the time I return to Colorado I will be in love wit them. Let's just say my hair is a fan of humidity but def not a friend to me if I make an attempt to style the norm. So pack up the round brush and straightners cause they ain't seein the light of day for a bit.

now where'd I put that mousse?

My Baby has a first name...

It's Cassandra's birthday! Holy cheese peeps my lil' baby sis is growed up. She's no longer a teen ;) ha ha anyways I don't get to be with her for this wonderful day dedicated to her but that still doesn't mean I can't not dedicate a post to her and her alone.
So peeps BABY IS 20!!! And she is in college and has a boy toy and lives far from home. I guess I kind of saw it coming. Anyways Baby love your butt loads and loads and can't wait to see you-well when I see you. Which should be in a few weeks. MWAH!

p.s. I wrote you a letter.

Dear Cassie,

I totally live in a box. Now I realize that you don't but I'm worried as to what you will do with this new found knowledge. So I'm dyin to know?!

Love, Stephie
ALSO...she shares this special day with an equally as special girl! Lylee Nicole!! Our lovely niece; she couldn't be more adorable if she tried. Serious peeps she is just that cute :D like a princess. Anyways Happy 2nd to her too!!

Kalends* of March!

Posted by StephieMae 1 sweet comments
It's March!!! So my peeps; do you know what that means?!? That's right! Time to catch a leprechaun! In speaking with my lil' neice BaiBai tonight I talked to her about the upcoming holiday of St Patty's Day. She was like ooh what's it all about? I explained to her that you can catch a leprechaun and get it's pot of gold-but it's tricky to do. And she immediately chimed "I know how to do that Stephie!" So I told her they are tricky to catch and very quick on their feet. So you must think about how you are going to do it. I figure you all know how to go about catching one of these small tricky fellows; but just in case here are some suggestions.

You must not forget that since they are fast you must be creative when trying to lure them in. So build a trap of your liking.

Traps should be green; they really like green. Also anything that sparkles I'm sure they LOVE! (I know I do) ;0 ha and also make sure it blends into the environment. Otherwise it'll be obvious.

Once you have that completed you need bait. Leprechauns are greedy lil' things and so the best thing to use are some gold coins or nuggets.

And remember they leave a trail of green and/or gold dust wherever they go. So keep your eye out. Speaking of eyes...if you do happen to catch a leprachaun don't take your eyes of them for even a second. They will take that opportunity and vanish!

calm in the storm

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
Alright peeps so first off; where did this snow storm blow in from?! Totally random; I go into a function tonight with a wind storm on our hands with no snow in the forecast. (at least that I was aware of) Come out several hours later to inches of snow-random.

So to sum up my night all I have to say is He did it again. The Lord and his tender mercies were apparent tonight. Long story short a friend and I were left to fend off 15 kids between the ages of 3 and 11 tonight. It kind of just fell in our laps so we were not prepared at all and just played it by ear. I could see the Lord's hand in it all by nights end. It was the calm in what could have been a far worse storm tonight. Sounds awful but really it wasn't that bad - actually it was the best way to have spent a Friday night and in good company but man are we exhausted. Tuckered out but glad to have come home and able to enjoy some yummy hot cocoa goodness!

I pretty much love...

* Listening to audio cd's from church speakers; anything about Joseph Smith or about how the Lord is taking care of us and how to apply gospel principles. All great things I get from taking time to listen.

* Making new friends and getting to know the old ones better :)

* Pancakes!

* Watered down apple juice or better yet chocolate milk on the rocks.

* Baking; esp trying out new recipies and of course stayin true to the classic oldies but goodies.

* Weddings! They are so much fun; from the dancing to the eating to the attire gotta love it all!

* Going to the movies!

* Late night chats on the phone.

* Spending time with my family; any and all of them.

* unanswered prayers, not always what I'm looking for but definately find great joy in knowing that I can believe in myself because my Heavenly Father does.

* Sleeping by the poolside even better when it's at least 76 or warmer out.

* Green bananas; pretty much God's gift to me. Okay that sounds awful but I truly do love them :D

* Catching up with old friends; even if it's been a while you can pick up right where you left off.

* Blogging-it is such a guilty pleasure

* Chats with my mother; she cracks me up! Just today we had a wonderful conversation about card games. Ha so funny my mum is.

* My nieces and nephews; such beautiful gifts from a loving Heavenly Father.

* The smell of rain, esp late at night.

* Sports; watching them is the best ever.

* Roadtrips where you listen to any and everything talk about who knows what and then get back to normal when all is said and done. They are very profound things-roadtrips.

* Sleepovers with my baby sis-even though she can't stand the whole sharing a bed thing. You'd think it were the end of the world or something. Yeesh

* Recognizing God in my day to day life. There are so many tender mercies and I'm sure I don't catch them all but I know He's there and He has my best interest in mind. Even on the worst of the worst days.

* Mint hot chocolate really late at night or early in the morning-amazing! Even better with a candy cane.

* I have a pig fetish; I love the idea of hoping to own one when I am older.

* Reading any given talk from any general authority; I have a collection if you must know :)

* Writing cards to friends-I love the personal touch you can add vs just an email or facebooking them.

* Talking with the 'rents

* Crawling into bed on any given night! It's amazing.

Why did I bother?

Posted by StephieMae 0 sweet comments
So maybe I can't sleep-who's really keeping tabs anyways right? I got home late and I just am not ready to crawl into bed as of yet. So I decided to come up with a list of 25 things I wish I hadn't learned about others or that made me laugh because I love them so much and that's why it's on here either way they were all found through my facebook network. I know lame right ha ha. Enjoy

1. I LOVE to have mashed potatoes and hot chocolate together.
2. I also love dead bumble bees. They are so fuzzy and friendly when they're dead.
3. I secretly enjoy listening to bad rap music
4. I am a closet Donny Osmond fan
5. I have a scar the shape of Florida on my toe.
6. When I was a kid, I would eat gum off the bottom of my shoes and out of the trash can.
7.I have a really good memory. If you give me a date or event, I can usually tell you what I was wearing. (Try it sometime… You won’t be disappointed) haha
8.I brush my teeth in the shower because I am unbelievably messy and I get toothpaste foam all over.
9.I will go a month or more without doing my laundry.
10. My eye doctor recently told me that I sleep with one eye open… How he knows this, I have no idea, but I still think it’s pretty creepy!
11.I absolutely love pickels and peanut butter, together.
12.Taco Bell is my guilty pleasure. It doesn't matter how many times it makes me nauseous, I always come back to it.
13.I worry about everything, including coming up with 25 interesting things to say on this. I have worried about having a child that is disabled or would die, losing a limb and wetting my pants in public and I have no idea why.
14.I don’t have any sweat glands in my armpits and I also don’t have arm pit hair… lucky, I guess.
15.I have peed my pants to see what it feels like. On multiple occasions.
16.When I was younger I was convinced that I would die from spontaneous combustion
17. I have seen my four siblings naked. Some by accident and some on purpose. My little brother slid down my arm, naked, when he mooned me and fell over on me.
18. I can sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star backwards.
19.I mulled over the decision to open a facebook account for a week, just to look at a friends photo album, and was going to close it immeadiately after.
20.After I poop, I turn around and look at the size
21.I always snag a straw from the places we go to.. it's the little things that make me happy.
22. I once got stuck in the antlers of a deer but was pulled out before getting hurt to much.
23. I have an extreme tolerance to medication, I have taken 5 times what killed Heath Ledger in one sitting intravenously (Sorry...too soon? lol).
24. I kinda pee a lot... it's unnatural.
25.I have a fake tooth, short pinky, fat ankles, and a knee cap that pops out. My mum says that I will never get married. She forgets that she has short pinkies too. That didnt stop her.

ponderous moment

So I was thinking just now about someone who I miss a lot and also who I wish I talked to more than what I do. I need to be better about calling her-esp for the fact that she's my sister! If she's reading this; which I don't even know if she does follow my blog on a regualr basis I want her to know how much she inspires me. She makes me want to be a better person. And she has an amazing family that she has created. I love being able to share in that happiness that she and her husband have worked hard at on building.

Thanks for that Chels! I love you!

*not to say I don't love you just as much Baby. ;) I know you are reading this. Ha
